Nicole Ari Parker is an American film TV and stage actress who is known for her role as the fierce attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime show Soul Food. After her marriage she became Nikki Kodjoe. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an inclination toward acting since childhood and received a Best Actress prize at a Maryland high-school competition. In addition to her work at the theater and in the ballet company, she was also a part of 'The Washington Ballet Company. The company awarded her the degree of Acting at New York University. Her first major role as a character in The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was a success and earned the most admiration. Films like Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark followed. Soul Food was an immensely loved TV show. Her TV appearances included Second Time Around and Empire. Prior to that, Parker appeared in many stage productions. Contractor, who was born and raised by his parents in Nigeria and Mumbai prior to turning 7years old, traveled all over all over the world and had a taste of many cultures as a child. Her education was at the boarding school of London between 7 and 9. Her family later relocated from London and moved to Toronto, Canada. Contractor was an outstanding student in Toronto and was educated to become an expert ballet dancer. She attended an Etobicoke School of the Arts an specialized arts public high school, where she not only danced but also studied theatre. Contractor was dancing for more than 10 years by the time she was and decided to concentrate on acting. After she completed high school, she was offered a full scholarship for tuition to University of Toronto where she pursued theatre studies with a double degree in psychology and Sociology. Contractor, who had completed her university degree was invited to audition at an open call for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canada] and won the part. After two weeks of performances, she got praise from the audience. This play was named one of the most successful productions in Canada by critics. She was given the chance to join Stratford Conservatory, which accepts only eight men and four women to take a course in classical theatre. Contractor was eager to accept. Contractor received a guaranteed spot in the following season of productions and was offered the part as Hermia as Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream.
